Musculoskeletal pain can be felt in your bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and or muscles. Sometimes, this pain can be localized in one focal spot or present as itself as a radiating, shooting pain.
Depending on the pain generating tissue, the quality of pain can vary. Bony pain can be described as dull or achy, whereas muscle pain can be sharp.
Sometimes, it’s difficult to explain the pain because you can feel a combination of sensations. To add another layer of complexity, some serious conditions (i.e. a heart attack) can be confused for musculoskeletal symptoms or vise versa.
If you are uncertain about your symptoms and want to know whether or not it is musculoskeletal in nature, please consult a healthcare professional (or us!) for further guidance.
